Thanks so much for all your feedback! Ha, the funny thing is that I had not even really considered the orange and blue one for the story, those were more initial experiments in character creation. But I have to say that now I'm wondering if I can maybe make the drawings more abstract...

@idnapper: You are very right that a lot of it does have to do with the story tone, audience etc. It's good I'm still at an early stage with everything, so I'll try and coordinate them all to work together.

I agree the Fennec Fox IS cute!! Now I want one too! I looked it up and they do seem a bit wild though.

My favorite one is the bright blue and orange one above. I like the softer style and bright colors. It really stands out.

On a simple read of the Rumi quote, I would suggest that we are looking for something related to the continuum of love - through one that recognizes the majesty of the ever-nearing divinity. The continuity of evolution symbolized by the river and the dismantling of the wall, barrier of the temporal self.

The Lady and the Unicorn - Sight, implies the recognition of the divinity in oneself - the unicorn often a symbol of divinity.

As to the connection... Rumi though the divinity existed within the self and that through love a recognition and reunion/attainment of that divinity could be reached.

Could be why our temporal temptress is looking so down in the mouth. No unicorn love for her.
